Hello again dear readers. I have returned from my break fully refreshed and ready to do battle with "Die Hundin" once more. It’s now just over a week until I return to school on 6th September. I still can’t believe that it will be my last year at school. Ever. A scary thought. This year should be better than last though, with three subjects instead of five, therefore meaning more free periods to play cards in! (Hopefully on the stage which hasn’t been used for several months). Anyway, to the point: this post will consist of two parts - one small and one large. The small one about my AS results that I received when I returned from my holiday, and the large part about the holiday.
So, on with the show!
Part One: The Results
I received the results for five AS levels and here they are.
Maths: A
Chemistry: A
Physics: A
German: A
General Studies: D
So, 4 As and a D. I’m very pleased with those, except that I got a B in the forces and motion paper for physics. Nonetheless, I’m content with the results. I just scraped an A for German (242/300), which was a surprise. And that concludes the first part.
Part Two: The Holiday – with photos! (Hopefully)
We spent eleven nights away from home on the island of Tenerife. We have been before for one week in April a couple of years ago. It seemed very nice, and so went back again.
This is our hotel; the Cleopatra Palace. Very nice it was too.
The view from our room. The hotel had an odd Roman/Egyptian theme.
One of three pools. There were five hotels on this complex, which was right on…
the beach! Far too crowded during the day for my liking. I stayed by the pool most of the time and ended up reading the Da Vinci Code whilst I was there. Finished it in four days, which I was quite proud of. It’s actually a very good book. I suggest some of you give it a go.
There were a few activities during the day such as Darts, Football, Table Tennis and Water Polo. I won darts twice and got two medals to show for it: Sorry no photo.
The beach, at night Naturlich.
Another Beach, which was a short walk away. Didn’t go during the day because the sun was too hot. Luckily I didn’t get sunburn so badly that it hurt, although I did go red in places.
One of the highlights of the trip was going whale-watching off the south coast of the island.
The “Lady Shelley”. A fine vessel she was too.
Whilst on the two hour voyage, we saw…
Yup, you guessed it, whales - Pilot Whales. There were at least ten at one point. Definitely worth doing. There were some dolphins swimming around too, which was also great.
One random thing which caught my attention was the placement of a lime tree by the poolside. Weird.
The said lime tree.
A picture of a wonderful fountain with our hotel in the background. By day and by night.
In case you didn’t know, Tenerife is a volcanic island, and the white sand is imported. It’s supposed to be black. Anyway, here’s a picture taken from the plane of the volcano that created this island – Mount Teide. The highest point in Spain, seeing as Spain owns the Canary Islands.
The huge mountain
Now compare that baron landscape to the one of good old Blighty:
How lush and green.
Well, that is all. A fab time and a well deserved rest was had. It’s now less than four weeks until the Nightwish Gig. Oooooh yeah! I have a distinct feeling that it could be very “Once” orientated. Should be excellent whatever they play. As long as it’s not “Two For Tragedy".....
Weather: Sunny! 26 C
Reading: Angels and Demons - Dan Brown
Listening to: Fix You - Coldplay
Watching: The Great Escape. A great Film
Confused about: A levels. Are they really getting easier?
Annoyed with: Otis, of course. And the fact the Charles could be on my duty next year.
Mood: Happy :D

Wow, looks like a pretty cool place to go. Although hot places have always made me a bit uncomfortable...
And if Charles is on your duty next year, well, I'll have to laugh :D
Taking pictures from planes is always great.
"The highest point in Spain, seeing as Spain owns the Canary Islands."
OWNED!!!
Sorry. And barren, not baron.
Lewis you obsessive...
All looking fine and mightiful there Dan! Black sand eh? MWAHAHAHA how suitably EVIL!!!
I've been there! About...ten years ago. I played in the black sand! And I climbed a volcano. How exciting. We stayed in a house not a hotel though.
Black sand just looks wrong. But hey, it's different.
